What to expect in Cultivating Classical Education

  • Personal Growth Rooted in Belief

Lasting personal growth is built upon belief—belief in timeless and eternal truths, in their own abilities, and in moral values that shape a meaningful life. God, family, service, and faith.

  • Peer Connection

Students sharpen each other and discover the strength they have in learning and standing together.

  • Classical Literature Appreciation

Through reading, discussion, writing, and thoughtful reflection, students will learn to recognize beauty in language, depth in ideas, and strength and confidence for their personal mission.

  • Academic Confidence

When students see that they can understand great works and contribute meaningfully to conversations, they begin to recognize their own potential to influence the world for good.

Unlock the World of Classical Learning

Explore rich history, language, and culture for a deeper understanding through Classical Education. As the group reads, they will pause often to investigate unfamiliar words, historical references, people, places, and cultural details. This process builds not only comprehension but also context—students come to understand when and why a book was written, what ideas or experiences shaped the author’s worldview, and how those ideas speak to us today.

What Students Are Saying...

"Mrs. Whitley’s way of mentoring is both unique and effective. She understands and educates each individual as well as the class as a whole, recognizing different learning styles and abilities. She meets those needs while challenging us to excel, always treating us with respect. She pushes our minds and expands our thinking. Mrs. Whitley consistently enhances our academic growth and encourages us to reach our full potential. That’s what makes her not only an incredible mentor but also a good friend.

I have always felt that Mrs. Whitley goes above and beyond for me and my classmates, and I could not be more thankful. She has strengthened my love of learning in countless ways. Mrs. Whitley has always made me feel capable of achieving incredible things, and that has meant so much to me. She listens to our thoughts and ideas with an open mind and approaches every situation with patience and kindness. I will always be deeply grateful for both her mentorship and her friendship."

Mae

The thing I loved most about Mrs. Whitley’s class was her books and questions. She never asked the borderline question, “What is the book about?” Instead, she would ask, “Why would the author write this book?” Her deep passion for history and literature amazes me! She taught me so much that I never would have learned if I hadn’t been in her class. There’s no way to fully explain it—she is just incredible! She challenges us to form our own opinions and discover who we are and what our purpose is. I don’t want to sound cheesy, but my life truly wouldn’t be the same without her. I’m so grateful for the great books and the untold stories of history she introduced me to and taught me about!

Annie

"I loved Mrs. Whitley's class! She pulled the richness and greatness out of history and literature, and taught me to love it.  She connected with me on a personal level every day and really cared about what I was interested in. She led discussions extremely well and made me really think about both sides of the argument. Overall, she is a wonderful person and a GREAT mentor."

Samuel
